Sunrise at Venice, Italy - Los Angeles Travel Photographer

I'm not a sunrise photographer and I think I've made it pretty clear before.  However, I'm willing to make exceptions from time to time.

In Venice, Italy, photographing sunrise means not only getting up early, but also extra early to catch the water taxi in darkness.  However, when the city on water, especially its windows, catches fire from the morning glow, all efforts that went into waking up with the city seemed more than worth it.

One Man's Hell, Another (Wo)man's Heaven - Los Angeles Travel Photographer

We human are complex. ย Anything that involves judgment can be subjective. ย At the small geothermal area of Seltun in Iceland, Genevieve, a lady I only got to know on this trip, said "you're going to love it". ย Oh, how she knew me so well!ย  And did she know it was only the beginning of many exciting opportunities, only to more extent, one after another, waiting to be uncovered?

At the Gunnuhver (meaning "Gunner's Hot Spring") geothermal site where you could lose your shoes over the hot surface of the soil, earth is covered by colors that you don't normally associate with this planet, and menace-looking steam engulfs you with a howling sound, I was ecstatic.

Is Gunner having enough fun?

Fishing Village on Pellestrina Island of Venice - Los Angeles Travel Photographer

Florence (Firenze) was not the only city where we craved to get out for air.  Venice is unfortunately another city that's suffered from too many tourists.  Lucky for us, in its fishing village on the Pellestrina Island, we found peace.  Over there, we saw the genuine life that we seek wherever we travel.

Before sun-down, people all come out.  What better view is there to beat the view of the setting sun on the lagoon right out the front door?  It must be a privilege to just pull a chair in order to enjoy such a view.

But, do they know an even better view follows after they've all gone indoors when it gets dark?  Good things happen to those that wait.  Just saying... :-)
