There's Whooper Swan, and then there's Red Crowned Crane Elegance - Los Angeles Travel Photographer

I first met whooper swans in Iceland.  It may have been the Arctic light, I thought they are one fine kind of birds.  Look at the pure white plumage contrasted with its dark feet and bright yellow bill.  When they glide effortlessly overhead in the sky, you tend to forgive them for the whooping sound.  After all, how would you know they are approaching had it not for the noise?

It doesn't seem that my affection towards whooper swans is without basis.  They are much admired in Europe and is even named the national bird of Finland.

And then, upon came red crowned cranes.  They define elegance on a whole different level.  I don't know if it's their slender profile or it's simply because they fly above the clouds.  I fell in love, over again.

What do you think?

Love, in All Its Glorious Ways - Los Angeles Travel Photographer

Some say it's the month of love.  Then, let's talk about love.

While in Japan, I witnessed the only known primates that take a bath in the comfort of hot spring water.  These close relatives of us human reminded me how one's love can seem so different to an observer.  And yet, just like the world is not all pink, I guess love exists and is exhibited in such diversified forms.

I'm not sure if the fact that Jigokudani, translated literally into English as "Valley of Hell", has anything to do with some unconventional behaviors that happen here, I sure hope that when it's out of line, one knows when to cry for help.

A Crowd Pleaser, or ... - Los Angeles Travel Photographer

I may be biased.  But I think my Assistante carries a certain energy that makes people like him.

In a country that's hostile to cameras, and people with cameras (see my other post "I Had People Framed in Morocco"), having a certain number of people turn a smiley face to him was still quite a scene.  I had to quickly take that moment as a photographic proof.  Or, was I quick enough?  I think one kid caught me.

Don't ask what happened next.  Just know that we made it back home in one piece. :-)

Question to you: Is it his royal aura that made these boys smile/laugh?
